CANAKKALE ONSEKIZ MART UNIVERSITY, CANAKKALE WARS AND GALLIPOLI HISTORICAL SITE DIRECTORATE AND CANAKKALE AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY DIRECTORATE MET AT A JOINT EVENT
With the participation of ÇOMU Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt ERENOĞLU, Canakkale Wars and Gallipoli Historical Site Director Mr. İsmail KAŞDEMİR, Canakkale Agriculture and Forestry Director Ms. Nazan TÜRKARSLAN, and Fisheries and Aquaculture Director Mr. Seydi Ali DOYUK, 2-year-old lobsters raised in the R&D facilities of ÇOMÜ Faculty of Marine Sciences and Technology were released in the Ship Wreck of the British flagship "HMS Majestic" that sank in the Battle of Çanakkale 109 years ago.
Lobster culture in Türkiye has been succeeded for the first time by Prof.Dr. Umur ÖNAL and his team with hopes to enrich natural lobster population and biodiversity.
In the joint operation with the University's Bilim-1 Research Ship and the Fisheries Control Boat of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, which met at the Settülbahir Pier, Divers Faculty placed 400 lobsters in the Battle Wreck lying 20 meters under the sea.
