Facilities

Research is conducted in numerous wet and dry labs including

Seafood and Feed Analysis,

Water Quality,

Plankton,

Seafood Processing Technology,

Fisheries,

Plankton Culture,

Biochemistry,

 Ecotoxicology,

Microbiology,

Fishing net fabrication and maintenance.

In addition, aquaculture research on macro and microalgae production, food fish and aquarium fish culture is conducted in state-of-the-art flow-through and recirculating facilities.

Vessels

MSTF operates 2 main research vessels for offshore operations as well as other smaller boats for inshore operations.

R/V COMU 1, a medium-sized (18 m) research vessel, is designed mainly for trawling. It is also capable of biological and chemical studies.

R/V COMU 17, is 25 m in length and 9 m in width. It is powered by a 500 HP engine. It is mainly used in biodiversity and stock assessment studies, as well as artificial reef deployment.
